Change Management Process
The RIMER... Managing Successful Change methodology is based on the processes outlined in the following model. The RIMER Model demonstrates the interdependence between a planned change and its implementation.
The RIMER Model demonstrates the relationships between a strategy, initiative or project and the Stakeholder Management process.
The scope of a strategy, initiative or project wil typically be to:
-
Respond to a need for change
-
Recognise that the current status does not meet the new drivers for change and identify what needs to be done to meet those needs
-
Remove the current way of doing things
-
Replace the current way with a new way
-
Restore the environment to business-as-usual.
The change management process, initiative or project is seen here as the change that is to occur.
Successfully implementing such change is contingent upon a successful interdependent relationship with the environment where change is to occur. In an organisation, this is the business and people side of change. In a community, it is the community and people side of change. Such Stakeholders adopt and adapt to change when those who lead the change, plan and implement strategies to:
-
RESPOND to stakeholder's knowledge, areas of responsibility and their issues and concerns throughout the change
- Keep stakeholders INFORMED of matters relevant to them throughout the change
-
MOTIVATE and inspire stakeholders to participate in the change
-
ENABLE stakeholder to make and sustain the change, taking care to remove impediments to their progress and provide them with the tools they need to make the change
-
RESTORE stakeholder confidence in themselves, their organisations, their leaders and their future and provide time for recovery.
The Change Management processes used to achieve change with stakeholders include:
- Change Leadership
- Communications
- Consultation
- Training, coaching, mentoring and or other support
- Human Resource Management
- Process Improvement
