Change Management Process
The RIMER... Managing Successful Change methodology is outlined in the following model. The RIMER Model demonstrates the interdependence between project management and change management.
RIMER is the basis for the Australian National Competency Standards in Organisational Change Management, registered by the Australia Government, and recognised internationally by all educational authorities that recognise Australian formal education qualifications.
Projects typically:

Respond to a need for change

Recognise that the current way of doing things do not meet what needs to be done to meet changing circumstances

Remove the current way of doing things

Replace the current way with a new way
-
Restore the environment to business-as-usual.
The project itself may be minor, but the impact on the organisation may be major. If organisational impact is not addressed, the cost of the project may be small compared to the cost of poor implementation. This results in major losses that actually leave the organisation in much worse condition than before the project began.
Stakeholders adopt and adapt to change when those who lead the change:

RESPOND to their knowledge, areas of responsibility and their issues and concerns throughout the change

Keep them INFORMED of matters relevant to them throughout the change

MOTIVATE and inspire them to participate in the change

ENABLE them to make and sustain the change, taking care to remove impediments to their progress and provide them with the tools they need to make the change

RESTORE their confidence in themselves, their organisations, their leaders and their future and, provide time for recovery.
